Air conditioning Hadleigh

Hadleigh is one of Suffolk's old wool towns, with a long High Street of listed timber-framed and plastered buildings and a medieval Guildhall. Around it, villages such as Layham, Aldham and Kersey are full of period cottages. Air conditioning can work well here, but it needs planning around the building.

Air conditioning in historic buildings

Timber frames and lath-and-plaster walls need careful drilling, and some walls are better avoided altogether. We often route pipework through a less sensitive wall, a floor void or a loft, and choose compact indoor units that sit comfortably in older rooms. For listed buildings we prepare the details needed for listed building consent.

Thatched and older roofs can make loft rooms very warm in summer. A small floor console under the eaves is often the neatest answer.
