What is included when we install air conditioning

Every installation follows the same checklist, whether it is a single bedroom unit or a four-room system:

  • Survey and sizing: in person or from your video, checking the room size, glazing, sun and how the space is used.
  • Indoor unit fitted level and high on the wall, with the pipe hole drilled to fall outwards so condensate drains away.
  • Pipework in insulated copper, run as short and straight as possible and finished in neat white trunking.
  • Condensate drain by gravity to a gully, downpipe or soakaway, or a quiet pump where gravity is not possible.
  • Outdoor unit on wall brackets or a ground stand with anti-vibration mounts, placed with neighbours and noise in mind.
  • Electrics: a dedicated supply from your consumer unit with the right protection.
  • Pressure test and vacuum before any refrigerant is released, then full commissioning.
  • Handover: we show you the remote or app, the best settings and how to clean the filters.

Types of system we install

  • Wall-mounted split: one indoor unit and one outdoor unit. The most common choice for bedrooms, lounges and home offices.
  • Multi-split: two to five indoor units on one outdoor unit, each with its own temperature control.
  • Floor console: sits low on the wall, ideal for loft rooms with sloping ceilings and conservatories.
  • Ceiling cassette and ducted: for offices, shops and open-plan spaces where you want the equipment out of sight.

How long does it take?

A single-room wall-mounted system is normally fitted in one day. Multi-room systems take two or three days, and commercial work is planned around how the building is used, including evenings or weekends where needed.

Choosing the right size

Too small and the unit runs flat out on hot afternoons; too big and it cycles on and off, dries the air less and costs more to buy. As a rough guide a typical bedroom needs 2.0–2.5 kW and a living room 3.5 kW, but sun, glazing and loft conversions change that. Try our air conditioning size calculator, then we confirm it before quoting.

Installing air conditioning in Ipswich

Most of our installs in Ipswich are bedrooms and loft conversions in family homes, followed by living rooms with big glass doors and home offices. In the older streets around Christchurch Park and St Clement's we often run pipework through solid brick walls and keep outdoor units to the side or rear; on newer estates such as Ravenswood the walls are cavity and the challenge is finding a quiet spot for the outdoor unit in a compact garden.

For apartments at the Waterfront and in the town centre we check lease terms and management company rules first, and plan outdoor units for balconies or communal plant areas. We will tell you what consent you need before you commit.

FAQs

Installation: common questions

How long does an installation take?

One day for most single-room systems; two to three days for multi-room systems.

Will you need to drill through the wall?

Yes, usually one 65 mm hole per indoor unit for the pipes, cable and drain. We seal it inside and out and finish it neatly.

Can the outdoor unit go on the ground?

Yes. Ground stands are often quieter and easier to service. We pick the spot with you.

Do you install in flats at Ipswich Waterfront?

Yes, with the management company's consent. We help with the information they usually ask for: unit size, noise level, position and method statement.
